Jamie Dempewolf is the school social worker at Jefferson West and a member of our district’s mental health team. Her primary role is supporting students who receive special education services, helping them build social-emotional skills, work through challenges, develop confidence, and find strategies that help them succeed both in and outside of the classroom. She believes every student deserves to feel understood, valued, and supported.

Beyond her work in special education, Jamie works alongside students, families, school staff, and community organizations to help connect people with the resources and support they may need. She also helps lead schoolwide mental health awareness efforts, including the Green Bandana Project, working to create a school community where students feel connected, supported, and comfortable asking for help.

Students and families can connect with Jamie through email or with the help of a teacher, school counselor, or another trusted staff member. When someone reaches out, the first step is simply understanding what’s going on and figuring out together what might be helpful. That might mean connecting with another school support person, finding community resources, or working with the mental health team to identify additional support.

At the heart of Jamie’s work is helping students and families feel supported, understood, and reminded that they don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone.
