NIC Culture of Care (CARE Team) is a collaborative, multidisciplinary support system at North Idaho College designed to promote a safe, healthy, and student‑centered campus environment. The CARE Team works proactively—rather than punitively—to identify and assist students who may be struggling academically, emotionally, socially,  behaviorally, or with basic needs such as housing/food/finances/etc. It connects students with campus and community resources, helps reduce barriers to academic success, and responds to concerns before they escalate.

Faculty, staff, and students can submit a confidential referral when they notice signs of distress, changes in behavior, or other concerns, and the CARE Team follows a structured process to assess needs, develop individualized action plans, and coordinate support—such as wellness checks, academic support coordination, case management, and referrals to counseling or other services.

Designed to foster student well‑being and retention, the CARE Team emphasizes collaboration, confidentiality, and connection to resources that support students in navigating challenges and thriving within the college community.

Students can submit a CARE report for themselves as well if they feel like they need additional resources.
